IPPT stands for Individual Physical Proficiency Test. It is a mandatory physical fitness test for all eligible Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel, including National Servicemen (NSmen) and active servicemen. It assesses their physical readiness and overall fitness levels.

The IPPT consists of three stations: Push-ups, Sit-ups, and a 2.4-kilometer run. Each station is scored based on performance, and the total points accumulated determine your award level.

Eligible National Servicemen (NSmen) are generally required to attempt the IPPT once a year during their annual IPPT window. Active servicemen also undergo regular fitness assessments as part of their service requirements.

There are four main award levels based on your total IPPT score:

  • Gold: 85-100 points
  • Silver: 75-84 points
  • Pass with Incentive: 61-74 points
  • Pass: 51-60 points

Scoring below 51 points is considered a Fail, and typically requires remedial training.

Yes, IPPT standards are adjusted based on age groups. This is to ensure fairness and to account for natural changes in physical capabilities as individuals age. Older age groups generally have more lenient requirements for achieving the same points.

For the most accurate and up-to-date official IPPT information, you should always refer to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) website and the NS Portal. We provide links to these official sources in our IPPT Standards & Requirements guide.
